Saturday Night Special (film)
Justin Evans and "Saturday Night Special" --
Hi -- I am trying to warn you that this entry is a selfpromotional by the same individual. And the awards the film has "won" have been received in a film festival created by the film's author. I am unfamiliar with the process here, but I'm a filmmaker who was taken by this scam. Please, check it out and clean the entry -- thank you. Mig (talk) 05:56, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- I've copied your post to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film so that the specialists can deal with it. -- John of Reading (talk) 09:19, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Can you help me
I dont want deletion Portal:Hamlet Isakhanli
Please help me If you can... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gunel Mustafayeva (talk • contribs) 10:44, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- Please see Wikipedia:Portal, and especially "The idea of a portal is to help readers and/or editors navigate their way through Wikipedia topic areas". For example, the Africa Portal acts as a gateway to the hundreds/thousands of Wikipedia articles on African topics. The Hamlet Isakhanli Portal, on the other hand, is a re-arrangement of the material from just one Wikipedia article.
- My request for deletion will be reviewed by an administrator. If the portal is deleted and you wish to challenge the decision, you should start by reading the page 'Why was my page deleted' -- John of Reading (talk) 10:51, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
I understand... We will do many articles in english.... Can you give us time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gunel Mustafayeva (talk • contribs) 11:09, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- When there is a collection of suitable articles, the portal could be re-created. -- John of Reading (talk) 12:24, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
on reviewing my article
Hi John, can you please help me out with my first article? It' s called IANOS and I have asked for feedback but have received nothing yet. How long do you usually have to wait and who will remove this notice at the top that says that it's an unreviewed artcle? editing in wikipedia is sooo not easy :-( many thanks! Nasialag (talk) 13:54, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

- I've done a little tidying. I don't have much experience of reviewing new articles, so I'd prefer to leave the "unreviewed" notice in place. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:12, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
ok cheers! Nasialag (talk) 14:35, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

Is there any way to eliminate the large space in this article? It is presently beyond my capability. Thanks for any help in advance. Mugginsx (talk) 14:59, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
- That was lightning fast. Thank you! Mugginsx (talk) 16:20, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

- I confused! My last edit to that article was over a month ago. -- John of Reading (talk) 20:07, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
- I cannot explain either. It was not there Satuday, but was there yesterday. Shortly after I requested that perhaps you could fix it, it was gone. Some kind of a glich? Whatever or whomever did it, it left no signature. I cannot explain it further. I see that you had helped other people and that you were a contributor to the article and that is why I asked you to help. Thanks anyway. Mugginsx (talk) 11:21, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
New article - submission declined
Hi John,
Thank you for your prompt review of our question earlier today (Intense Technologies Limited).
Per you, I revisited your guidelines on posting articles. Ours is a new setup after entities changed. We are still in the process of making that "giant leap" into markets. You'd, therefore, appreciate that we may not have too many references of third party sites to talk about us yet.
However, we'd still want to be on Wiki given the following it enjoys amongst our clientele and prospects. We can ill-afford staying away from this circuit at this point.
Hence, need all your help in suggesting alternatives.

- I'm afraid you need to find a different website entirely; the page Wikipedia:Alternative outlets may help you with this.
- Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, with articles on topics that are already notable; it is not a means of advertising or promotion. If your company takes off and people start writing about it in the news, either someone will write a Wikipedia article about it, or you will be able to make a more successful submission at Articles for creation. -- John of Reading (talk) 09:26, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
Bogatell
I saw your posting at Requests for Feedback and took a look at the article. I'm responding here, because if I post on RFF, it might discourage some other editors from looking as well. Really a problem child here, perhaps more for attitude than the article itself. I will try reformatting some of the references. Then maybe I will read them if I can. The "TTB" wikilink leads to nowhere. The See also is not in a section. The tone is largely promotional. Yet there might be sufficient notability for a properly written article. The article needs to be tagged about these issues. On COI, WP:COI doesn't require disclosure. Personally I wish it did. Maybe there's another guidance page that does. - Thank you. I confess I didn't know what to do! -- John of Reading (talk) 09:46, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Help with references
Hi John! I was searching for information about physiscs behind EDM and reading wikipedia page I found that you contributed a lot there. I also have seen that one of the references that i was looking for was listed, the Thesis of Frans Van Dijck. Is it possible for you to send me a copy of that work? If you can help me, please send me an email: [details removed]. I am working on a PHd on the subject and that reference is really important to me.
Thanks in advance. Golsouza —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.128.7.66 (talk) 18:40, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
- Are you sure? I may have fixed a few typos, but I haven't contributed any substantial content to any physics articles. I'll happily try some Google or Wikipedia searches for you, but so far I haven't worked out which article and reference you mean. Sorry! -- John of Reading (talk) 18:59, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Well, Sorry John! I made a mistake when searching for information on wikipedia, but I think maybe you can help me. I'm searching for the Thesis of Frans Van Dijck on EDM and I saw that this work is the 15th reference of the EDM article of wikipedia. How can I find the person that wrote that part of the text (section: Material removal mechanism)? Maybe the one that inserted that reference in the text can send me a copy of the work of Van Dijck. Thanks! Golsouza
