The Spatial AKA Orchestra is an English jazz fusion group, led by former Specials frontman and keyboard player Jerry Dammers. With music written by Dammers, The Independent described their music as "afro-futurism" in the style of Sun Ra.[citation needed] They perform in elaborate Ancient Egyptian and outer space-themed costumes, and share the stage with bizarre props such as model alien heads and mummy Sarcophagi. In March 2009 the band performed at The Barbican Theatre in London. In April 2010 the band appeared on Later... with Jools Holland on BBC Two.
