The discography of The Wombats, a Liverpool-based alternative rock group, consists of two studio albums, four extended plays and six singles.
The band's first release came on 20 September 2006, when debut extended play Girls, Boys and Marsupials was released in Japan through an independent record label. The release was then followed by a second Japan-only extended play on 13 May 2007[1], entitled The Wombats Go Pop! Pop! Pop!; which was released through 14th Floor Records following the band's signing with the label. The debut studio album, The Wombats Proudly Present: A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation was first released in the United Kingdom on 5 November 2007[2]; where it debuted on the UK Albums Chart at number 11; before going on to be certified Silver by the British Phonographic Industry. The album was succeeded by another extended play, The Wombats EP, which was released in the United States only through independent record label, Kids. The band's second studio album, entitled This Modern Glitch is due for release on 11 April 2011[3].
"Moving to New York" was released as the band's first official release on 26 October 2006 as a limited edition 7" Vinyl. On 9 April 2007, the band then released "Backfire at the Disco", which debuted on the UK Singles Chart at number 67. "Kill the Director" then marked the band's first top 40 hit when it peaked at number 35 upon release on 25 June. The band then scored a further three more top 40 hits from their debut when "Let's Dance to Joy Division" peaked at number 15 having been released on 8 October, "Moving to New York" peaked at number 13 following a re-release on 15 January 2008 and "Backfire at the Disco" peaked at number 40 following its re-release on 21 April. The final single to have been released from the debut album was a re-release of "Kill the Director", which upon release on 7 July peaked at number 48.
On 24 September 2010, The Wombats released the lead single from their second studio album, This Modern Glitch. The track, entitled "Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)" debuted in the UK at number 23; also managing to peak at number 33 in Australia. The second single to be released from the album, "Jump Into the Fog" was released on 24 January 2011 as part of a four-track extended play, where it debuted at number 35 on the UK chart. The band are set to release the album This Modern Glitch on 25 April 2011, with third single "Anti-D" preceeding it - with a release date of 11 April 2011.
