Cristian Tănase (born February 18, 1987 in Piteşti[1]) is a Romanian football player, who plays for Steaua Bucureşti. His nickname is Dodel.

Career

Tănase began his career on youthside for Argeş Piteşti and in the summer of 2003 was promoted to the Liga I team, having played for half a year in the 2005/2006 season five games for Dacia Mioveni on loan.[2]

Steaua

On 6 August 2009 he signed a 5-year contract with Steaua Bucureşti for a transfer fee of 1,8 million euros. Argeş Piteşti will be receiving also 50% of a future transfer fee.[3]

On 13 December 2009 he scored his first goal for Steaua in a 3-2 victory against Internaţional Curtea de Argeş, which was a fantastic winning goal in the 72nd minute.[4]

Starting with the 2010–11 season, Bănel Nicoliţă became Steaua's new captain, however, following a poor performance for the team and the arrival of new coach Ilie Dumitrescu, he soon gave his armband to Cristian Tănase.
