Megan (/ˈmɛɡən/; also spelled Meghan, Meaghan, etc.) It is also a Welsh female name, originally a pet form of Meg, itself a short form of Margaret. Nowadays it is generally used as an independent name rather than as a nickname.[1]

Notable Megans include:

  • Jeffrey Silver's "For f**k's sake, Meaghan!" became the "it" phrase for many in New York's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood in early 2011.
