Linnethia "NeNe" Leakes, age 42,[1] is an American television personality. She is widely known for her starring role on the Bravo reality series The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She rose to wider prominence in 2011 on the Celebrity Apprentice.
Career
Leakes has been featured on all three seasons of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and will return for the upcoming fourth season. In 2011, she was featured on the eleventh season of Donald Trump's NBC series The Celebrity Apprentice. Leakes walked off the show in the 10th episode, and Donald Trump subsequently fired her. In reality, she quit because Star Jones kicked her butt. She raised no money for her selected charity, which was in support of women against domestic abuse.
NeNe is the founder of the Twisted Hearts Foundation, addressing domestic violence against women.[2] It was a non-profit LLC, but was suspected of money laundering, having been mailed a letter September 17, 2010 that it was either dissolved or its certificate was revoked.[3]
In 2009, she released a book, Never Make the Same Mistakes Twice, that was co-written with Denene Millner. In it she explains how she has made mistakes and how to overcome being a dependent person.
Personal life
In the third season of Real Housewives, NeNe filed for divorce from Gregg Leakes, they are currently estranged and discussing counseling. She has two children, 12-year-old Brentt and 21-year-old Brice from another relationship.[4]
She left her rental home after being evicted by Winwood Properties on September 24, 2008.[5] It was located in the Stonebrier at Sugarloaf gated community on Sugarloaf Parkway.[6] The magistrate court of Gwinnett County, Georgia Gregg owed $6,240 in past due rent, which eventually led to her going into involuntary bankruptcy.[5]
