Geomerics is a software company with offices in Cambridge and agents is USA and Japan. Geomerics was founded in 2005 and the company specialises in creating lighting technology for the games industry.

Technology

Geomerics flagship product is Enlighten, which computes radiosity in real-time on Playstation_3, Xbox 360 and PC[1]. Enlighten processes scene geometry in an offline step, allowing for real-time updates of the lighting in a level. Surface properties such as colour can also be updated dynamically.

In 2011 Geomerics spun out some of its non-core intellectual property in the network management company Real-Status. Real-Status applies videogame technology to the problem of managing a large IT infrastructure.

Titles

Enlighten is incorporated into the Frostbite 2 engine[2], ensuring its use in a range of EA titles. These include Battlefield 3, and Need for Speed: The Run. Enlighten has also been licensed by CCP Games for a range of titles including the iconic Eve Online. Many more publishers have licensed Enlighten, though details of specific titles are usually held back until closer to launch.
