Geomerics is a software company based in Cambridge, UK. It was founded in 2005 and specialises in creating lighting technology for the games industry. Geomerics' Chief Operating Officer is Gary Lewis[1]. Prior to joining Geomerics Gary Lewis was the Global Chief Operating Officer at Take 2 Interactive. The company was founded by Dr. Chris Doran[2] as a spin out from Cambridge University.

Technology

Geomerics main product is Enlighten [3] [4] [5], which computes radiosity in real-time on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.[6] Enlighten processes scene geometry in an offline step, allowing for real-time updates of the lighting and surface properties in a level.

The technology has recently been recently ported to NVIDIA's CUDA platform[7].

Titles

Enlighten is incorporated into the Frostbite 2 engine[8], created by EA DICE studio. It can be seen in Battlefield 3[9], and Need for Speed: The Run. Enlighten has been licensed for a variety of other titles including Eve Online.
