iGenApps is a mobile app generation platform and website launched in February 2010, operated and privately owned by XPOUS LLC. Users may create a personal or business application using there mobile devices without any need of programming skills. iGenApps users must register before using the App and be able to create Apps. Additionally, users may share their generated Apps with others and through social networks to get noticed. The name was originated as a combination of 3 elements. The "i", meaning interactive, "Gen" as an abbreviation for generation and Apps as it is know for applications. Another meaning for iGenApps is "iGen", as the new Internet Generation of young users, being able to create mobile Apps or Applications. iGenApps allows any users who may own an iPhone, iPod, iPad or any Android device to create their own mobile Apps.

History

iGenApps was founded in February 2010 by Norman Ortiz, currently sole owner and founder. The product was initially limited to only Windows PC users with a version of Microsoft Excel 2000 or higher. The application only allowed the creation of 4 different screen types and was based on JQuery and HTML at that time. Since June of 2010, iGenApps has been redesigned from ground up providing a complete solution for any user with a mobile device interested in creating their own mobile Apps. Now, the product generates Apps using the Sencha Touch framework with some added functionality in JQTouch, and they are licensed under the GNU GPL v.3 licensing.

Awards

In February 2011, iGenApps was among the [1] from the International CTIA Wireless[2], at Orlando, FL and, in March 2011, iGenApps was awarded with the 1st place in the B!g Idea Contest[3]. Also, in May 2011, iGenApps became one of the 13 finalists in the MobiTechFest held in Boston, MA.
