Overton Grange School is a mixed comprehensive secondary school in Sutton, Greater London, England. The school's opening year was 1997 with the first intake.
Planning for a new school in the area was identified in the 1980s. The capacity is approximately 1300 students. It has a sixth form college, opened in 2003. Since 2008 it has been an International Baccalaureate World School and a specialist English and Humanities College since 2009. However, the International Baccalaurate programme will only be running for the Year Twelve students who began their studies in 2008; due to staff and funding difficulties, the school have been unable to provide the programme to further year groups.
In mid 2011 the school introduced a house system: 4 houses, each with their own motto, logo, head of house, prefects and a representative from each class. These four houses are: Ruby (Red), Sapphire (Blue), Emerald (Green) and Amber (yellow). Students will, from the new term starting in September be required to wear a strip bearing their house colour on their blazers, above the school badge.
It has a hearing support department and a greater number of students with disabilities because of the purpose-built facilities.
Students in the lower sixth are prefects, and have the ability to apply to become senior prefects in the upper sixth.
List of Headmasters
- Mr. Kieran Osborne (1997–2004)
- Mr. Willis (2004–2005)
- Mr. Jones (2005–2006) (Interim)
- Mr. Stephen Foxwell (2006–2008) (After Mr. Foxwell's resignation, deputies Mr. Gerry Bennett and Mr. Keith Stride took over until the end of that academic year.)
- Mr. Peter Butterworth (September 2009 - )
Overton Grange School is known for it's strong rivalry with near by Cheam High School. Overton Grange is trying hard to be on the same level as Cheam High (Outstanding, instead of Good).
