Institutes of technology versus polytechnics

The two are certainly related, and are often used interchangeably. Please read the article Institute of technology; it is a blanket article that deals with both institutes of technology and polytechnics. As you will see from the article, the two terms are, depending on the context, sometimes distinct and sometimes interchangeable, and their meanings are so malleable as to make it difficult to make a firm distinction. That is why both are treated in the same main article, which incorporates information from all the education-related articles listed on the disambiguation page. I was hoping that, when I finished disambiguating all the incoming links, I could get Polytechnic moved to Polytechnic (disambiguation), and then redirect Polytechnic to Institute of technology, as that seems clearly to be the primary topic for the term.--ShelfSkewed Talk 23:05, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Polytechnical vs. Polytechnic

Could someone please clarify if the former writing is acceptable? I've seen both and it's obvious that the latter is more correct, but my university just keeps on writing 'polytechnical'
