The Daescher technique is a ski jumping technique that was created by Andreas Daescher of Switzerland. This technique was created in the 1950s as a modification of the Kongsberger technique where the arms are placed backward toward the hips for a closer lean. This would become the standard for ski jumping until the development of the modern V-technique by Miroslaw Graf of Poland in 1980s, which was only accepted by the judges when Jan Boklov from Sweden and others started using it in the late 80s.
