Template:Infobox City Japan Oga (男鹿市, Oga-shi) is a city located in Akita Prefecture, Japan. It is located on the Oga Peninsula.

The city was founded on March 31, 1954.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 29,377 and a population density of 148.34 persons per km². The total area is 198.04 km².

On March 22, 2005, the town of Wakami was merged into the city. As of 2008, the city has an estimated population of 33,628. The total area is 240.80 km².

Namahage

Namahage, one of the traditional event in this region, which held on New Year's Eve, every year. This event, like Halloween, features a home visit from door to door with costumes for the purpose of overcoming adversity. Oga has place in Namahage Statue with History and related event of Namahage Museum.[citation needed]
