Template:IBM GERS (General Expense Reporting Solutions)

This article is about the IBM services offering known as GERS, or General Expense Reporting Solutions.

Overview

IBM Global Expense Reporting Solutions (GERS) is an expense reporting tool for enterprise and midmarket businesses.[1] This automated, web-based expense management solution was launched as an internal program within IBM in 1991.[2] IBM GERS provides travel and expense (T&E) reporting solutions for more than 500 global clients, manages over $3 billion in travel spend, and processes more than 30 million expense reports annually.[3]

Features

IBM credits the success of GERS to ease of use, implementation, scalability, and ease of integration with existing technology.[4]

IBM GERS includes an analytics toolset called Insight that can help organizations reduce travel spend.[5] IBM GERS business intelligence capabilities include proprietary predictive analytics that help track policy-based expenses that fall outside of policy, which can assist companies to identify fraudulent behavior and adhere to compliance requirements.[6]

The IBM network of travel-related suppliers can help businesses negotiate and maintain cost-effective supplier contracts. IBM GERS is compatible with a wide variety of online corporate credit card and travel reservation systems for automatic data pre-population and policy compliance review.[7]

IBM GERS is available in more than 90 countries, supports more than 40 languages and has local currency conversion capabilities, applicable tax, and other legal and fiscal international capabilities.[8]

IBM GERS versions and SmartCloud offering

IBM GERS solution is offered in multiple levels, ranging from simple hosted applications with a narrowly defined scope to integrated consulting and implementation services offered through IBM Global Services and IBM Business Partners.[9] Depending on size and need, IBM GERS clients can choose either the hosted solution or a full suite of managed services,[10] including:

• Extensive maintenance, such as application monitoring, hardware and software setup and configuration, and disaster recovery

• Support, including help desk support and analytics such as system administration support based on business rules that help identify and monitor fraudulent behavior

• Training during rapid implementation of the GERS offering

For each engagement, subject matter expertise is provided by IBM GERS solution architects who either designed or built the GERS solution. The IBM GERS services are provided in-house by IBM, not a third party.

IBM GERS is also offered as one of the components available in the larger IBM SmartCloud portfolio.[11]
