I have a number of images that I was in process of adding when the discussion kick in. I intend to add them. THey are from the Sternberg family and are being made available to the commons.Jgbarrett (talk) 00:34, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

THis article was built offline in collaboration with Eugene Sternbergs wife, Barbara Sternberg and his daughter Franscesca. I am providing technical support for the effort processing images and putting the information into the wiki. We started with the existing page which focused on only one key project in Sternbergs career, Arapahoe Acres. Ms. Sternberg has written the text herslef based on her intimate and extensive 50 plus years of living with Eugene. SHe has compiled a catalog of his projects, large volume of plans and images / pictures of his portfolio. She is working from all these primary sources and from her memory. She has recently completed the publication of a biography of ANne Evans a leading arts and culture innovator in the first half of the 20th century.

We respected the initial content of the article but took the path that a more complete description of his life and his works was in order to truly describe him and the value of design contributions. Jgbarrett (talk) 00:34, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message. You surely appreciate the sensitive nature of writing about someone with whom you were close--having Ms. Sternberg and her daughter write the text is problematic for numerous reasons, not the least of which is the difficulty of maintaining neutrality, summarizing content effectively, and not introducing unsourced personal information. For instance, as a registered account I wrote and edited more than a few biographies about people whom I know, and am even related to, and I've never included anything of a personal nature that couldn't be verified through sources. Everything has to be properly sourced, per WP:RELIABLE and WP:PRIMARY. It's clear that Mr. Sternberg was a major figure, but a whole nest of complications arises when a family member writes the content. Of course, there's also the matter of the current issue, wherein the article appeared to have major copyright problems. If this can't be satisfactorily resolved--and I'm sure it can be--it's entirely feasible to request neutral contributors to help write the article, even making use of published documents which the family owns, with their permission. I understand the "potential" introducing "personal" unsubstantiated information when one close to the subject compiles and writes the information. Mrs. Sternberg is an experienced author and biographer - Anne Evans – A Pioneer in Colorado’s Cultural History: The Things That Last When Gold Is Gone. I would like some pointed recommendations as to how to proceed and address the "percieved" copyright. Thanks. Jgbarrett (talk) 18:49, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps Dpmuk [1] could be helpful re: the copyright issue, but the policy is pretty straightforward, and there's no issue if the text is rewritten so as not to copy or paraphrase something already existent, then supported by reliable sources. Notwithstanding your putting the words potential, personal, and perceived in quotations, the concerns are real, rather than imagined. I've seen major writers and their families edit articles about themselves on Wikipedia, and it was clear that literary excellence did not provide immunization against conflict of interest, neutrality, and reliable source difficulties. 76.248.149.98 (talk) 19:15, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, nice. I listen to this while reverting vandalism. PCHS-NJROTC (Messages) 16:12, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Though I confess I've never been a G & R fan, I appreciate the link. Drop by any time, at least until I mysteriously vanish due to this rural internet connection, and reemerge as a new IP.... 76.248.149.98 (talk) 16:18, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. By the way, welcome to Wikipedia! PCHS-NJROTC (Messages) 16:22, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wanna know what I listen to when I'm going through the motions? And what was with the Robert J. Bentley reference? He hasn't humped since before the Great Depression. Drmies (talk) 01:56, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm guessing I know, but that would constitute too much information. And I'm not proud to admit that I wouldn't recognize the current governor of Alabama if my being depended on it, but for me it's of minor concern. Another selection: [4]; oh but I do. 76.248.149.98 (talk) 02:29, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
