Maddy Dychtwald is an author, speaker, and co-founder of Age Wave,[1] a specialized firm which conducts benchmark research in the field and provides consulting services to business and non-profits worldwide on a broad range of issues relating to aging populations. She’s spent more than 25 years with her hands on the pulse of trends such as the reinvention of retirement to help companies better understand how to serve the changing needs of this enormous marketplace opportunity. She is also an authority on the economic ascent of women, including how it will transform financial services, healthcare, and consumer marketing.

Maddy is the author of three books: her newest, INFLUENCE: How Women’s Soaring Economic Power Will Transform Our World for the Better (May 2010) explores how women are the major change agent of the decade to come. She has also written Cycles: How We Will Live, Work, and Buy (2004), the winner of the 2004 Book of the Year Award from the National Community Colleges Association, and co-authored an illustrated children's book on personal reinvention entitled Gideon's Dream: A Tale of New Beginnings (March 2008). In 1986, she co-founded Age Wave, the nation’s foremost thought-leader on population aging and its profound business, lifestyle and cultural implications. The company provides breakthrough research, award-winning communications, and results-driven marketing and consulting initiatives to more than half of the Fortune 500.

During her career, she has addressed more than 350,000 business and social service leaders worldwide in a wide range of organizations, including Global Women Leadership Network, National Association of Educators, and the World Future Society. Maddy has been prominently featured in leading media worldwide, including: Bloomberg Businessweek, Forbes, Newsweek, TIME, U.S. News & World Report, Fox Business News, CNBC and NPR. She is also a contributor to The Huffington Post.

A graduate of New York University, Maddy has been married for more than 25 years and has been a working mom living in the San Francisco Bay Area for much of her adult life.

A New Era of Women and Financial Planning, etc., etc. The Allianz Women, Money, and Power Study, 2006. This study was conducted to better understand women’s relationship with money and investing. The study included a survey of over 3,000 women and men conducted by Harris Interactive. The study revealed 5 distinct types of relationships between women and money.

Retirement at the Tipping Point: The Year That Changed Everything, March 2009. The recent economic reckoning has created vast financial losses and uncertainty during the last year, triggering all generations to reassess the funding, timing and purpose of retirement. To learn precisely how these disruptions have altered Americans' retirement hopes, worries, and needs, Age Wave launched this national survey among 2,082 respondents spanning four generations. The results uncovered mounting fears and shifting plans, but also a renewed focus on what's important and an optimistic outlook about the possibilities for retirees' new role in American life.

SunAmerica Re-Visioning Retirement and Retirement Re-set Study, r 2001, 2011. Age Wave, working in collaboration with SunAmerica, completed a groundbreaking study of the past, present, and future of retirement. This breakthrough research indicated that there are four distinct segments that now define the contemporary U.S. retirement experience: Ageless Explorer, Comfortably Content, Live for Today, Sick and Tired.
