The Mercedes-Benz R231 automobile is the upcoming generation of the SL-Class roadster, replacing the R230. The car is expected to be released by the end of 2011 and will use new Mercedes-Benz downsized 4.6 litre V8 engine with a power output of 435 hp (324 kW). AMG version of the legendary roadster will follow in 2012. The new SL aims to be 140kg (around 308lbs) lighter than the previous, being made almost entirely out of aluminum. [1]
