suggest removing "Too-technical" tag
This article has a boilerplate
This article may be too technical for most readers to understand.(October 2009) |
tag at the beginning, but I think it should be removed. In its present form the article's introduction adequately explains what pyrrolysine is--an unusual amino acid occurring in only a few organisms. Given that pyrrolysine is a fairly obscure biochemical, which so far has not been touted as a nutritional supplement, the article is less likely to be viewed by generalist readers than say, tryptophan or amino acid, or taurine and accordingly the use of a few technical terms like methanogenic archaea in the introduction is not inappropriate.CharlesHBennett (talk) 16:34, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
- I think a strong effort to establish a context for understanding to the non-technical readership would be appropriate. Given that there are several redlinks, this article is presently inaccessible to the general readership. I'd suggest the tag remain in place at present as there is room for improvement.Novangelis (talk) 17:57, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
- I came here from Proteinogenic amino acid, and noticed a sudden change of reading-level. The "introduction and context" section of this page seems to be an attempt to provide context, but it is jarringly unrelated to the rest of the page. Given that the link here was from a sentence saying "The remaining two [proteinogenic amino acids not synthesized by the universal genetic code], pyrrolysine and selenocysteine, are incorporated into proteins by unique synthetic mechanisms", a good starting point for the introduction would be good to repeat some words to this effect here.
