Isa Vandi (Persian: عیسی وندی; born 1960) is an Iranian film producer, film director, film editor and screenwriter.[1] He emigrated from Iran in 1989, now living and working in Sweden.
Career
He founded Scorpionfilm in 1995. Some of his films have gained notable recognition amongst which is My Midsummer (Min Midsommar, 2002) which was made for Sveriges Television in an effort to describe the different nationalities festival celebrations in Sweden.[2] So faraway yet so close (Så fjärran ändå så nära, 2007) is also a poetic film about ordinary people and their incredible stories.[3] For five years Isa Vandi visits Kvibergs market in Gothenburg where people from all around the world with their fascinating and moving stories come together in narrow aisles.[4] One thousand and one night (Tusen och en natt, 2010) also brings something new to the big screen.[5] It’s a documentary about the relationship of an Iranian woman with a man who cannot settle for a woman and none of the characters shy away from that which is pathetic, embarrassing and humiliating.[6]
