IRC poker

A few comments:

1. Wasn't IRC poker designed by someone called Greg Reynolds? If this can be verified, then he ought to get a name-check.

2. As I remember it (and I played a lot of IRC poker in the late 90s/early 2000s) the games offered were: limit Holdem, pot-limit Holdem and no-limit Holdem tournements. I don't remember Omaha being on offer.

Correction needed

The program r00lbot did not provide amusing quotes -- that was Poki. Poki is a program written by the University of Alberta Computer Poker Research Group (CPRG). Poki was also a winning player on IRC, even at the advanced level (#holdem2). Poki participated in the chat, and on request it could tell jokes, quote Steven Wright, say amusing things in Latin, provide player statistics, and more. The CPRG later produced Polaris [1].

Todd Mummert wrote most of the IRC poker server code. Greg Reynolds wrote a popular user interface (GPkr) to make IRC poker easier to use. More information can be found on the CPRG website, which hosts the IRC Poker Database [2].
