Trophy Wife is a punk/metal duet based in Philadelphia, PA. The band formed in 2008 when drummer Katy Otto (co-founder of Exotic Fever Records) and guitarist Diane Foglizzo met in Washington, DC working for the punk magazine Give Me Back. The band began writing songs and playing regional shows in its first year, distributing a 4-song tape as its first release. The band recorded a debut release, Patience Fury, with respected DC producer/engineer/musician Devin Ocampo (Medications, Faraquet, Beauty Pill, Smart Went Crazy) in December of 2009. In July 2010, Trophy Wife released Patience Fury on 307Knox Records based out of Durham, North Carolina. Foglizzo and Otto relocated to Philadelphia for greater artistic opportunity and community. They enjoyed widespread coverage in Philadelphia media upon relocation, including a piece in the Philadelphia City Paper.

Trophy Wife continued to tour nationally, building a following and connecting with punk, feminist, queer and activist communities. The band is a project in collaboration - all lyrics are co-written and co-sung, the band operates as a DIY entity, with members running the booking, communications, tour logistics, shirt designs, and distribution. Sonically and ethically, the group is influenced by its DC roots and the ethos of Dischord Records/Fugazi.

In May/June 2001, Trophy Wife toured Europe for five weeks. The tour was organized by artist/friend Jana Sotzko in conjunction with La Moustache booking in Berlin, a booking company devoted to queer/feminist/women artists.

The band has just finished recording its second full length, Sing What Scares You, to be released on 307Knox in the summer of 2012.

There are other bands with the name Trophy Wife and Trophy Wives; one is from Oxford, England and another is from Pennsylvania.
