Jake Mark Johnson is an American actor who currently stars as Nick in the Fox comedy series New Girl opposite Zooey Deschanel. It premiered on September 20, 2011 to strong viewing figures of 10.28 million[1] and positive critical reception.
Johnson also starred in the 2009 film Paper Heart, which won the 'Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award' and was nominated for the 'Grand Jury Prize' at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.
Career
Johnson appeared in numerous television and film roles throughout 2006–2010, including such series as Curb Your Enthusiasm , Lie to me and FlashForward. In 2010, Steel Train featured Johnson in their "Turnpike Ghost" music video as the show host Al Scalzo.[2] In 2011 he starred in the romantic-comedy film No Strings Attached alongside Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher. Johnson has also been mistaken as the guy on the Windows Samsung Flash commercial, who is actually Ron Steinhart (son of TV producer Adam Steinhart). In 2011, he landed a starring role in the Fox comedy series New Girl, which was one of eight honorees in the "Most Exciting New Series" category at the Critics' Choice Television Awards, voted by journalists who had seen the pilots.[3] The series premiered to a strong audience figure of 10.28 million and to generally a positive critical reception.
Personal life
Johnson was born in Evanston, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago, Illinois.[4] Johnson enjoys basketball and tennis, being a member of both the Sunday Men's Basketball League and the Interstate 5 Tennis Association.[5] He is also a fan of the Chicago Cubs baseball team as well as the Chicago Bears football team.
He is of part Irish descent.[6]
He is married to Erin Payne, an artist.
