Absolutely Charming (simplified Chinese: 糊里糊涂爱上它) is a Singaporean Chinese fantasy drama which will be telecast on Singapore's free-to-air channel, MediaCorp Channel 8. It will make its debut on Labour Day, 1st May 2012. This drama serial consists of 20 episodes, and will be screened on every weekday night at 9:00 pm.

Synopsis

Heavens above will make fun of mortals, however they will also make fun of fox spirits! [1]

The female lead of the show, Hu Liqin, is the Fox Spirit, banished to Earth for being unable to suppress her feelings of love in the celestial heavens. The only way she would be permitted back to the Celestial Court was if she could find a man willing to sacrifice his life to love her. [2]

Trivia

  • This drama's Chinese title was originally meant to be 我爱狐狸精. This drama evokes love triangles.
  • Dai Yang Tian was initially planned to play the role of Song Haomin, but the role was played by Elvin Ng after final planning.
  • Tay Ping Hui was initially planned to play the role Wu Zikang, but the role was played by Zhang Zhenhuan after final planning.
  • Jeanette Aw was initially planned to play the role Hu Liqin, but however the producers wanted Cherry Hsia to play the role instead.[3]
  • This drama may be a remake of Bountiful Blessings, but it is not fit to be related as it looks much more like a combination of Love and Unriddle rather than Happily Ever After. Thus Bountiful Blessings was left out. However, Bountiful Blessings may stand a 40% portion of the remake. Other possible remakes included A Tale of 2 Cities.
  • There are possiblities for this drama to be cancelled if it doesn't gain enough ratings, similar to The Ellen Show, having the next drama to be broadcast the next weekday after it was cancelled.
  • Bobby Tonelli, Jacelyn Tay and her family and Douglas Kung (It's A Small World) appear as cameos in the beginning of episode 1, where they see a fireball (which was created by Heavenly Mother after slapping Fox Spirit). It is similar to 1988 TV series Star Maiden.
