Wyatt Gooden (born October 10, 1988 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American racing driver who competes in the F2000 Championship Series with Quantum Racing Services. Wyatt had a unique upbringing into motorsports in that he not only raced on the national karting circuit, but also developed a strong interest in computer racing simulators from a young age. The desire to compete eventually led him to much success through virtual racing. In 2009 he became the first person in the United States to win a fully funded ride in a professional auto racing series through an online computer simulator. Later successes in online racing took him to such places as New York City and Germany to compete against the best in the world head to head.[1]
2010
Through a partnership with iRacing and Volkswagen of America, Wyatt competed in the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup series on a funded scholarship worth $45,000. By the end of the season, nearly missing out on the championship in the last round in Mexico, Wyatt won Rookie of the Year honors, having amassed 2 victories on the season.
2011
Mid way through the year, a diversity program through Honda gave Wyatt the opportunity to prove himself in an open wheel car, where his true ambitions had always been. His open wheel debut took place at the 2011 Formula F Mid-Ohio race weekend, where he won both events. A month later, Wyatt was awarded 2011 Team USA Scholarship, becoming a finalist. This was the first time an African American had been awarded this achievement, and he had done so after having only driven two open wheel races in his career. In October of 2011, Wyatt competed in two more Formula F series events at Watkins Glen, winning both races and earning the title as #1 Ranked Formula Ford driver in 2011 (eFormulacarnews.com), after only having done 4 of the 10 races on the season.
2012
Wyatt is competing in the F2000 Championship Series with Quantum Racing Services, the same team which brought him to victory in the Formula 1600 Series. Eight races into the 2012 season has Wyatt 2nd in the points standings with one win and five podiums.
