The American Redoubt is a relocation concept formulated by New York Times best-selling[1] survivalist novelist and blogger James Wesley Rawles.

This plan designates five western states (Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, eastern Oregon, and eastern Washington) as a safe haven for survivalists, conservatives and Christians and Jews. [2], [3]

The concept was endorsed by former Presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin, who had recently relocated his entire extended family to western Montana.[4] It also soon inspired the launch of a weekly podcast by Christian Libertarian journalist John Jacob Schmidt, called Radio Free Redoubt.[5] The Seattle Times characterized the American Redoubt movement as appealing to "a growing number of people."[6]
