Mika Horiuchi (born April 22, 1986) is a Japanese/American musician. Mika is known as bass guitarist for the band heavy metal Cellador and being bass guitarist of the band post hardcore Falling in Reverse, since April he has been working on his solo project called "Starstruck for Stereo".

History

Early Life

Mika Horiuchi was born on April 22, 1986 in Seattle, Washington.

At 9 years old, Mika learned to play guitar. He started playing the guitar and the trumpet and took part in classical music and jazz bands.[4] As a teenager, Mika learned to play bass, forming his first band in 2001, at age 16.

Cellador (2007-2009)

Mika joined the band Cellador in early 2007. His first show with the group was in his hometown, Nebraska, alongside the band Unearth. In April, the band was called to join the tour of the band All That Remains headlining tour, after that Mika became the permanent bass guitarist. Mika left the band in mid-2009, for no apparent reason and was replaced by James Pickett in 2011

Starstruck for Stereo (2010-present)

Mika started a acoustic, pop, alternative rock, indie rock, and experimental rock solo career, known as Starstruck for Stereo. Mika released a demo on his MySpace page on January 22, 2011 called 'LOVE-U',[5] in this project, Mika sings and plays guitar, bass guitar, percussion, piano and more.

Falling in Reverse (2011-2012)

In place of the founder and bass guitarist, Nason Schoeffler, Mika joined the band Falling in Reverse, in late April 2011. Nason left the band due to prioritize his project, Me Myself Alive, where he is a bass guitarist shortly after the band released there debut album, The Drug In Me Is You, which was released on July 26. Mika appears as a bass guitarist in the credits, but did not compose and participated in the study, but did participate in video clips and appear in the music videos.,[6] the band was on tour, with this confirmed their integration into the Warped Tour annually.[7] In January 2012, the band announced Mika Horiuchi's departure from the band, Falling In Reverse's frontman Ronnie Radke gave Altpress.com this exclusive statement regarding Horiuchi's departure from the band "Mika is not in the band and that’s it. Nothing more to say right now but stay tuned kids, 2012 is our year."[8][9][10][11]

Trivia

  • Mika is known for his bass solos and the agility of his fingers.
  • Billy Sheehan and Toshiya (Dir en gray) are influenced by him by listening to his playing. Despite his lack of recognition in the world, Mika Horiuchi has influenced many Japanese youth by his music, ie Kei J-Metal/Visual. This could be a result of his youtube channel in which he has uploaded covers of different band songs such as Galneryus (Power Japanese metal) or by their numerous shirts X Japan, Dir en gray, among others. Many people attribute his playing with musicians of the American heavy metal scene (among others) for lack of information, but Mika at least been influenced by famous bass guitarists and guitarists like Hide of X Japan. (Now deceased)
  • In mid-2008, Mika released his own clothing line, 'Aizou Clothing'.
