Into the White (previously titled Comrade)[1] is an anti-war film[undue weight?discuss][disputeddiscuss]directed by Petter Næss,[2] released in March 2012. The film is written by Ole Meldgaard, Dave Mango and the director Petter Næss. The film stars David Kross, Stig Henrik Hoff, Florian Lukas, Rupert Grint and Lachlan Nieboer. The filming began 28 March 2011 in Grotli, Norway. Filming has also been in progress in Trollhättan and Brålanda, Sweden.

Plot

The film is based on a true story. On 27 April 1940, Luftwaffe pilot Horst Schopis' bomber, a Heinkel 111 (1H+CT) is shot down near Grotli by an RAF Blackburn Skua (L2940) fighter, which then crash-lands. The surviving German and English crew members begin to shoot each other, but later find themselves huddled up in the same cabin. In order to survive the harsh winter in the Norwegian wilderness, they have to stand together. An unlikely, lifelong friendship blossoms.

In 1974 the original L2940 was recovered from Breidalsvatnet lake near Grotli in Skjåk municipality.[3] The original Heinkel wreck remains in the mountains at Grotli.[4]

The film had a limited release in select theatres. It was well received by users and has a rating of 7.4 at imdb.[6]

Home media

The film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 28 only in Norway.[7]
