"Waiting For The Night" is a song recorded by Canadian artist Nelly Furtado, the song will be released as third single from her first English-language album in six years, The Spirit Indestructible. The song was written by Furtado and co-written by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins. The song is inspired by a diary she kept as smitten sixteen-year-old on a summer vacation on São Miguel Island, Portugal. The song was released on German radios on October 8, 2012.[1]

"Waiting For The Night" is dance pop song with elements of Latin pop and folk. The song begins with an entry diary written by Furtado to introduce the song, featuring harp, bagpipes, sounds of waves and sea gulls.

Background and composition

"Waiting For The Night" was written by Nelly Furtado and co-written and produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins who also produced the previous singles, Parking Lot, Spirit Indestructible and Big Hoops (Bigger the Better). "Waiting For The Night" is dance pop song with elements of Latin pop and folk featuring accordion and bagpipes. The song begins with an entry diary written by Furtado to introduce the song, featuring harp, bagpipes, sounds of waves and sea gulls. "Waiting For The Night" is reminiscent of her previous work on Mi Plan or Folklore. Lyrically, the song is about her having a crush on a boy, she sings in the chorus "Day and night, day and night, you blow my mind, blow my mind". The song is inspired by a diary she kept as smitten sixteen-year-old on a summer vacation on São Miguel Island, Portugal.

Live Perfomances

The first live of Waiting For The Night was performed for her Private Show in Berlin. Later she performed it on a radio in Austria.
