Meier & Frank Building in 2007 during remodel that added The Nines to the Complex

The Nines is a luxury hotel in Portland, Oregon, United States, owned by the Starwood Hotels. Opened in 2008, the hotel occupies the top nine floors of the Meier & Frank Building, giving the hotel its name. The 331 room hotel includes 13 suites, making it the fifth largest hotel in Portland based on the number of rooms.[1] The 12th floor, or "Club Floor", can only be accessed via specially programed room key. The hotel has two restaurants. One is Urban Farmer, a gourmet restaurant that relies on local farmers' produce. This restaurant is located on the 8th floor, which is the lobby. Departures, the other restaurant, serves Asian food and is located on the top floor, including some of the roof. The hotel was designed by Forrest Perkins[citation needed] and Courtney Gallant,[citation needed] who describe their design as "Nostalgic Modern".[citation needed]
