Carmen Salles y Barangueras (b. 9 April 1848, Barcelona – d. 25 July 1911, Madrid) was a Spanish nun who is noted for founding the Order of the Missionary Conceptionists of Hope and her advocacy of the equality of men and women. She was Sainted on 21 October 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI.[1]

Biography

She studied at the Order of the Company of Mary Our Lady in Manresa, then entered the novitiate of the Adorers of Barcelona, but left the community without taking the vows.

The teacher entered the Congregation of the Dominican Tertiaries of Vic, was founded in 1856 by Francisco Coll Guitart, but the way of life of religious women religious was not satisfying and left the institute.

Under the protection of the Bishop of Burgos, in 1893 he founded another congregation teacher, that of the Immaculate Conception of St. Dominic : the protest of the Dominican Sisters of Vic, the reference to St. Dominic was soon removed.

The Sallés y Barangueras interest on his congregation until his death in 1911 allowed it to spread to several cities in Spain.
