Matthew James "Matt" Tuck (born 20 January 1980) is a Welsh singer-songwriter. He is the vocalist and rhythm guitarist in the Welsh metalcore band Bullet for My Valentine, which he founded in 1998 after changing the band's name from Jeff Killed John to Bullet for My Valentine in 2003.[1] He is also the guitarist of the supergroup AxeWound, which was formed in 2012. He also plays drums, keyboard, and harmonica. Before joining Bullet For My Valentine, worked at Virgin Megastore. He did a collaboration with Max Cavalera of Cavalera Conspiracy and in the Apocalyptica song, "Repressed".
Matt Tuck currently has his own model V of B. C. Rich. He previously had a model with Jackson, which was a Randy Rhoads inverted in white with black edges, silver glitter and black borders, but was canceled for unknown reasons. For live performances, he uses Mesa Boogie, Peavey, or Fender amp systems.
Throat Problems
In November 2006, while on tour with As I Lay Dying and Protest the Hero, Matt suffered from laryngitis, which led to a series of concert cancellations, until early January 2007 when he was able to sing after his recovery period.
His vocals from The Poison and Scream Aim Fire has changed in Bullet for My Valentine's latest album Fever. It has not stopped Matt from singing, but you can notice a big difference in live the years from The Poison on songs like "Tears Do not Fall" or "4 Words (To Choke Upon)", where Matt's guttural screaming parts are often replaced by Jason James (bass guitar and backing vocals) in recent years. Matt continues to sing lead vocals, but his screaming is no longer the same as in previous works.
The June 22, 2007, it was announced that he needed a tonsillectomy,[2] so he had to cancel all his concerts, including the tour as support band Metallica. [3] Unable to speak, Tuck wrote that as soon as doctors cleared him he would be in the studio working on the band's next album.[4]
Influences
He has cited Metallica as being his main musical influence. At the age of 14, Tuck discovered the band through MTV when the music video to Enter Sandman aired. This inspired him to be a guitarist. He has also mentioned Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Pantera, Megadeth, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, and Bob Segar as being heavy influences in his songwriting.
