Alon Carmeli (born December 19, 1964) is an Israeli businessman. He is best known as the CEO [1] of Babylon, which is traded on the TASE.[2] In 2012 Alon Carmeli was ranked as one of Israel's 50 best CEOs in one of the most prominent Israeli financial news sites .[3]

Early life

Alon Carmeli spent most of his early years in Haifa, Israel. Alon is the son of Amos Carmeli, an Israeli journalist, who, in 2000, was awarded a Sokolov Award (an Israeli journalism award) and Tamar (Tami) Carmeli an international medalist who has participated in many lawn bowls, paralympics, international championships and tournaments for the blind. He attended Hebrew Reali School of Haifa from K to 12. Alon holds an Executive MBA from the Tel Aviv University Tel Aviv, Israel He graduated with honors receiving a Bachelor of Business (BBus) the Business College, Tel Aviv.[4][5] Carmeli, now lieutenant colonel in reserves , has served in the Israeli Air Force between 1983 and 1991.

He currently resides in Herzliya, Israel. He is married and has four children.

Business ventures

Alon, apart from being the CEO, is a Board member of Babylon Ltd, the dictionary software and language solution company, which is traded on the TASE with a current valuation of 500 million USD, a Board member of InnerActive Ltd.

Philanthropy

Alon's philanthropic activity includes sponsoring Beit Elazari Children's Home through Babylon, and other anonymous philanthropic activities
