Dallas-Fort Worth Rail

Fantastic work on the DFW rail map. Three more stations have opened: Belt Line and North Lake College on the Orange Line, and Downtown Rowlett on the Blue Line. Could you update your map when you have the time? Thanks. Dmp348 (talk) 14:55, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've made a temporary update and updated the file description. However, Port of Authority may still wish to make a more professional update - I don't have the correct font installed, so I had to do a lot of copy-paste and manual kerning. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:29, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Software

Hello! May I ask what software you use to create your maps of transportation systems? Thanks, Ocean Shores 01:06, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I use Inkscape, the free open-source vector graphics editor. The Port of Authority (talk) 04:35, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New Metro-North map

Superb work, though I have a question about the color choice. The darker fan used for the bodies of water is a curious choice, as it actually looks more like land than the land. Just wondering why you chose that color. oknazevad (talk) 22:32, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the late response! About the color, I was inspired by the 1972 map of the New York City Subway system created by Massimo Vignelli. It's abstract and doesn't draw too much attention. Plus, I believe that the land color should be as neutral as possible (meaning white or off-white) so that the line colors aren't disrupted too much. MBTA Commuter Rail map

Thanks for the new map - it looks great! I was planning to make an updated one myself, but yours is a lot better than my efforts end up as. Cheers! Pi.1415926535 (talk) 02:01, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. The Port of Authority (talk) 04:27, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I just made a few changes to the map - adding a Providence/Stoughton dot at Hyde Park, changing the Green Line dot color, and moving part of the Old Colony lines to make it more obvious that the Greenbush Line splits off before Braintree. I believe it would also be a good choice to show the Wildcat Branch, since it is used by a significant number of trains - 5 inbound and 1 outbound on weekdays. I figured I would give you first crack since you created the map and you know the styling better than I, but if you're too busy/not interested I'll do it. Cheers, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 00:01, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Looks great. I'll see how I can fit in the Wildcat branch, it shouldn't be too difficult. The Port of Authority (talk) 05:14, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, did you ever get a chance to try putting the Wildcat Branch in? I'll be messing around with the map come Monday with the opening of Talbot Ave, and I didn't want to interfere with any changes you're making. If you haven't gotten to it, I may play with the Wildcat myself, probably by kinking the middle Lowell Line into the vertical. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 02:33, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I completely forgot about the Wildcat Branch -- feel free to add it, I'm interested to see how it turns out! The Port of Authority (talk) 16:05, 11 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I just uploaded a new version with the Wildcat Branch added. It's currently on an ugly horizontal because the Lowell Line has an inconvenient number of stations making it difficult to make the Wildcat a reasonable 45 degrees. I'd welcome your input or your own version. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 06:52, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That works quite well! The Port of Authority (talk) 06:59, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MTA Metro-North map

Manitou is missing from the map. Khan_singh (talk) 01:33, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, don't know how I forgot that one. I'm actually working on a SVG replacement for the existing map and will definitely remember to add it! The Port of Authority (talk) 02:04, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New SEPTA map

Your new SEPTA Regional Rail Diagram rocks. Awesome work. Martindelaware (talk) 12:45, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
