Lachin (Laçın) is a rayon of Azerbaijan. Lachin once had a notable Kurdish population. This region is currently under the control of Armenian seperatists, due to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, and is the land link between Armenia and the Karabakh.

The region had about 67,000 Azerbaijani people, the war claimed 266 lives from Lachin, rendered over a hundred people handicapped, and the fate of 71 others is still unknown. The Azerbaijani refugees have settled in 59 regions. Nearly 20,000 IDPs from Lachin have settled in Baku, Sumgayit and Absheron regions of Azerbaijan. 17,300 of them are now living in Aghjabedi, Takhta Korpu, (territory of Lachin) in 84 large nomad tents. The Armenian population has named the region Kashatagh.
