Sondra Marie Currie[1] (born January 11, 1952) is an American actress.

Sondra Currie was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of actress Marie Harmon, who made several movies in the 1940s.[1] She is the sister of the twin singers Cherie Currie (of The Runaways fame) and Marie Currie. She began her acting career in several B movies. Her first role was in the 1970 western movie Rio Lobo, even though she was not credited for it. She got her first major role as Lacy Bond in 1974's action movie Policewomen. It was on the set of this film that she met her future husband Tony Young, whom she was married to until 1986.

Tired of being labelled as a tough B-movie actress, she had guest star roles in Adam-12, The Odd Couple, Magnum, P.I., Airwolf, Knight Rider, Three's Company, The Golden Girls, Columbo and Cheers. She was also featured in the runaway hit film The Hangover. She's reprised her role of Linda Garner, Alan and Tracy's Mom, in both Hangover 2 and the upcoming Hangover 3, due in theatres in May.

In the late-1970s, she met Alan J. Levi while auditioning for a movie. They fell in love and married in 1989. They have a production company called Lumina Pictures and Entertainment LTD and has successfully produced several plays including 1987's The Chesterfield Woman.

Affiliations

She is a Lifetime member of the prestigious Actors Studio. She is a member of Women in Film, Women in Theatre, and the EMA.

She is a founding member of The Theatre Group, a 140-member Los Angeles-based theater company presenting work at the Beverly Hills Playhouse and The Skylight Theatre. [citation needed]

SHARE

One of her most rewarding endeavors is being a member of SHARE, a charity devoted to helping abused and/or developmentally disabled children, and those with HIV/AIDS: "'This is a place where I might really be able to make a difference, I see it first hand. The children are so receptive, such a positive experience. It helps me keep everything else in perspective."[2]
