Albert Odulele (born January 5, 1964) is a pastor, author and televangelist. Odulele was born in London to Nigerian parents Abel Oyebajo and Patience Aotola. Odulele spent his formative years in Nigeria and emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1986.[1] Odulele became a registered sex offender in 2011.[2]
Early Career
Odulele graduated from Ogun State University in Nigeria with a Bachelor of Science in Medicine.[3] Following his relocation to the United Kingdom, Odulele founded the evangelical London church, Glory House which was initially established as Glory Bible church in 1993 from a former funeral home in Leyton, East London.[4]
Criminal Conviction
In February 2011, Channel 4 News reported that Odulele was charged with two counts of sexual assault, one involving a 14-year-old boy and another on a 21-year-old man. [5] Odulele pleaded guilty[6] and confessed that he had been battling with his sexuality for many years. [7] Odulele was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court to fourteen months in prison. Having served some of his sentence, Odulele was released early from jail on 29 July 2011.[8]
Later Career
Following his release from prison, Odulele returned to his position of senior pastor at Glory House International Pentecostal church.[9] As a registered sex offender, Odulele's conviction stipulates that he must not be left alone with minors unless another adult is present. His controversial return to head the church attracted mixed responses from his followers. [10]
