MobileIron, Inc. provides mobile device management and security to large enterprises. The MobileIron Virtual Smartphone Platform allows companies to manage multiple operating systems at a granular level, support corporate- and employee-liable devices, enforce cost control, and create a private enterprise application storefront for employees.[1]
History
MobileIron was founded in 2007 by Ajay Mishra, Suresh Batchu and Bob Tinker to "address the challenges enterprises face in adopting mobile devices".[2] Ajay Mishra had previously founded Airespace, which was acquired by Cisco in 2005.[3] The company has raised over $50 million in funding from Sequoia Capital, Norwest Venture Partners, Storm Ventures and Foundation Capital.[4]
MobileIron began shipping its products in late 2009.[5]
MobileIron is headquartered in Mountain View, California,[6] and has offices in the Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, China, Singapore and Hyderabad, India.[7]

- Virtual Smartphone Platform and Connected Cloud Management and security of both corporate- and employee-owned mobile devices, including remote provisioning, device status, policy enforcement, remote lock and wipe, network access control and the ability for an employer to spy on its employees using the device tracking function.[8]
- Multi-OS clients Management of multiple mobile operating systems: iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, webOS, Windows Mobile andWindows Phone.[6]
- Enterprise app store Companies can create a private repository of IT-approved mobile applications.[9]
- Partner API Carriers and partners can build proprietary applications for mobile device management, security and analytics, integrating MobileIron data with applications in the enterprise[10]
- MobileIron Sentry Allows IT personnel to identify unauthorized devices, block their access and enforce company policies via iPad.[11]
