Data#3 Limited (DTL) is an ASX-listed Information and Communications Technology (ICT) company.[1]
Data#3’s head office is located in Brisbane but the business operates nationally across Australia. [2]
The company delivers a range of ICT solutions operated from the company’s five specialist businesses which include: Licensing Solutions, Product Solutions, Integrated Solutions, Managed Services and People Solutions.[3]
History
Data#3’s history goes back to 1977 when Powell, Clark and Associates (PCA) was established to offer professional consulting, software development and data processing services to companies installing computer-based information systems.[4]
In 1984, IBM launched its personal computer[5], the Directors of PCA knew this heralded a new era for computing. To address the opportunities they saw ahead, Data#3 was formed by acquisition and merger of Albrand Typewriters & Office Machines.
Prior to the official company launch in 1984, a new name was chosen to reflect the business. ‘Data’ represents the stability, strength and history of the company and the industry. The ‘#3’ was chosen from the new IBM PC keyboard - the first to show the ‘#’ and the ‘3’ on the same key and that captured the innovation and excitement of the future IT world.
Management
Since the company foundation in 1984, John Grant has been part of Data#3 and has been Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer since 1996.[6] Grant is also the Immediate Past Chair of the Australia Information Industry Association (AIIA).[7]
