The Dusi Canoe Marathon is a canoe (or rather, kayak) race between Pietermaritzburg and Durban, South Africa. In 2006, it is called Hansa Powerade Dusi, and attracts approximately 2,000 paddlers. Because of the dangers of canoeing at night, the race is held in three stages. First raced in the 1950's, the race was won by the only finisher, now well-known conservationist, Ian Player in around 6 days. The current record stands at around 8 hours.
