Don Bosco School, Bandel, or DBB, is an all-boys, English medium school established in 1978. It is run by the Salesians of Don Bosco which is a congregation within the Catholic Church. The school operates under the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations. DBB is one of the International Don Bosco "family of schools". The first Don Bosco Institution in India was set up in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu by the Salesians in the early 1900s.

Motto

The motto of the institution is "Knowledge and Service".

Morale and Discipline

Being a Christian institution, the classes of Christian Doctrine (Catechism) are compulsory for Christian students. All other students must attend classes of Moral Science/Value Education, which deal with moral principles, values and rules of conduct. A student must strive to attain qualities of mind and heart and integrate into his life virtues such as honesty, sincerity, piety, compassion, generosity, love for nature and self-reliance. Special attention is given to ensure a high standard of morality and discipline in the school.

Campus

The main school buildings( 2013)

The school has one of the best kept school campuses in the district. It is also the largest educational complex in the district. DBB is adjoined to the Bandel Basilica, one of the landmarks of West Bengal. It is situated on the Banks of the river Hooghly. The school building comprises multiple wings that house the junior section, the senior section, the auditorium, the library and staff rooms, the assembly hall, the AV room, the Seminary Hall, the seminary, etc.

Uniform

The uniform comprises a white half-sleeved shirt with the 'DB' monogram on the pocket, grey shorts (for classes I to V)/grey trousers (for classes VI to XII), maroon tie (till Class X)/maroon tie with 'DBB' (Classes XI and XII) and the school belt. Classes I to V may wear a grey pullover during winters with the school crest on the top-left. From classes VI onward, students are allowed to wear the school blazer (in navy blue).

Houses

DBB uses the 4 houses to foster a sense of competition and belonging. They actually represent a "Home within a Home". The four houses are Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green. All intra school activities are organized as inter house competitions.

Aim of the Institution

The aim of the institution is to impart sound value based education by forming in the boys habits of piety, virtue, discipline and self-reliance during the years of their studies, thus enabling them to be dutiful sons of the Catholic Church and useful citizens of their motherland, India. The method of education followed in the school is the Preventive System taught and practiced by St. John Bosco. It is based on Reason, Religion and Loving kindness. The school seeks to form the young, through education, into men of character, competence, conscience, compassion and commitment who will foster uprightness in public life.

Bosco Xprezns

This is a cultural fest hosted by DBB during the last week of July or the first week of August. It originally started out as Friend's Meet in the year 2007 under the patronage of Fr. V.T.Jose, Mrs Jayanthy A.N. and Miss Shampa Chakraborty, along with the initiatives of the then Green House Captain Kuntal Basu and Blue House Captain Arnesh Ghose. From 5 schools in its inaugural edition to 16 in the academic year 2012-13, this fest has been a metaphor for the school's growing strengths. Presently the fest is organized by the Student Council and a board of Senior Teacher Coordinators, who conglomerate to form the core committee, while being supported by the other groups who take charge of individual events. A list of the themes of the fest is given in chronological order:
