Sommet Sports is an upcoming sports-oriented television channel operated in New Zealand that will broadcast on Channel 14 on Freeview NZ. It offers a varied range of sporting events, some of which had never been screened in New Zealand. According to their website "Our channel will only work with Freeview Approved Terrestrial Product (it requires MHEG5)" suggested that it would be available via a MHEG-5 application that will use the built-in internet capabilities of terrestrial H.264 receivers, however the SMPTE color bars test card is being provided as a standard H.264 DVB video channel at 1.2 Mbps with stereo AAC at 64 kbps.

Sommet Sports will use on screen popup overlay banner advertisements designed to minimize disrupting events with commercial breaks.
