Hammerwatch is a computer game which was released on 12 August 2013 on Steam.[1] The game was developed by Jochum Skoglund and Niklas Myrberg. Hammerwatch is a Hack and slash-adventure computer game. It was mainly inspired by the Gauntlet games.[2] The game came on Steam through the process of the Steam Greenlight.[3]

The gameplay of the game is somewhat similar to Diablo and other similars hack and slash games. The player is in a castle and he must kill hundreds of enemies. Unlike Diablo, there is no tree skills in Hammerwatch. The player buys skills from traders across the maps.

Hammerwatch has four character classes : the paladin, the wizard, the ranger and the warlock.

The game was in the top 30 of the most anticipated indie games of 2013 on Destructoid.[4] A beta was released in February as stated on Eurogamer[5] and PC Gamer.[6]

Reception

Hammerwatch received a score of 75/100 on GameFront[7] and a score of 7/10 on Destructoid.[8] Hammerwatch had 2,500 pre-orders and the game sold 12,000 units on the first 24 hours on Steam.[9]
