Somasundara Palem is a village, whose name comes from 'One Somasundaramma Grama Devatha'. Somasundaramma Thalli is in Kattevaram Village. This village was established more than 125 years ago. The village consists of about 90% GOWDA Community, which has been primarily formed by the branches of one family, that of Vaka Muthyalu who hailed from Kaithepally (Near the Repalle, Guntur District), as per the information revealed by the village elders and senior citizens of this village. At the time of foundation of this village, there were no bridges over the canal and there were no houses in the area. These lands are Agricultural lands and are used for rearing cattle.

Vaka Muthyalu came here as a maid servant from Kaithepally, due to disputes in his original village. He had five daughters and seven sons i.e., namely Balakotaiah, Ankamma, Pullaiah, Nagaiah, Pothu Raju and two others (Names not known). In 1980 most of the houses were thatched houses except for a few. Now there has been a reversal, as most of the houses are RCC and only a few houses are still thatched. Prior to 1980, the roads were very poor and with a lack of street lights. Previously the village was under the control of Kattevaram Gram Panchayat, then it was separated by the late Yarramuthi Venkaiah & his team. Currently there have been numerous improvements with new street lights.

Prior to 1988, there was no single graduate from this village. The first graduate from this village was Morla Durga rasada Rao, presently practising as an advocate in High Court of A.P., Hyderabad. Now almost 150 to 170 people are graduates in the village, with degrees in branches like Engineering, Pharmacy, Ayruvedic, MCA, MBA, etc. Yet there is no single graduate vote from this village for costing the vote to MLC elections. The population is approximately 2000, and yet there is no upgrading of the primary elementary school.

At that period they established one Ramulavari Temple. It was later renovated, but not in a proper way. Due to that reason, some of the people have come forward for renovation of the Ramalyam. There is One Sree Veeranjanya Swamy temple that is inside the bridge. Outside the bridge, Sivalayam and Kanka Durga Ammavari Temples are there. This special village is ‘Ganganamma Kolupulu’ shall do the Karthika Masam.

Recently the Ramulavari Temple was renovated with the help of the peoples funds. It might take 1 year to renovate, and it has taken around 40,00,000 INR.

This village is very peaceful and their livelihood is mainly through milk & coconut businesses. Very good water sources are there, such as canal water, as well as ground water with in 10 feet and sweet water for drinking purposes. Their expenses are village expenses and income sources are Urban revenue, due to this village being situated within 2 km of Tenali Town. Moreover it is very near to VSR & NVR College, Engineering college, bus and railway stations. This village's land is very expensive due to its prime location. Due to the shortage of land and drastic development from Tenali to Vijayawada route.
