Forefather is a heavy metal band from Surrey in England. There is debate as to which sub-genre or sub-genres of metal the band belongs[1] while the band itself describes it's music as 'Anglo-Saxon Metal' due to its Anglo-Saxon themed lyrical content .[2] Since their inception in 1997 the band has released six studio albums.

History

Forefather was formed in September 1997 by brothers 'Wulfstan' and 'Athelstan'.[3] Two years later Forefather released its first album, Deep Into Time, on the bands own label, Angelisc Enterprises, on which two more albums would be released by the band, The Fighting Man and Engla Tocyme, in 2000 and 2002, respectively.[3] Forefather's fourth album, Ours is the Kingdom was released in 2004 by Karmageddon Records, on which the band's entire back catalogue of full-length albums was re-released - remastered and with added bonus tracks.[4] In 2008, Forefather released its fifth full-length album, Steadfast,[5] on the band's new own label, Seven Kingdoms,[6] on which three years later the band's sixth album, Last of the Line, would be released.[7]
