Brantley Gilbert (born January 20, 1985) is an American country music singer-songwriter from Jefferson, just outside Athens, Georgia. Most notably known for "Country Must Be Country Wide" which hit the No. 1 spot in November 2011 and "You Don't Know Her Like I Do," his second No. 1 in July 2012. The Country format first got a taste of Gilbert's music with his debut album, Modern Day Prodigal Son, released in 2009. Gilbert embarked on a milestone career move when The Valory Music Co. signed him to their roster in early 2011.

Career
Early Career
Brantley Gilbert originally moved to Nashville as a songwriter, signed to Warner Chappell Publishing. [3] He continued performing at local venues, garnering a fan base that kept wanting to hear him perform his own songs. In 2009, Gilbert released his debut album, Modern Day Prodigal Son under an independent label. Settling into his country-rock sound, Gilbert followed his debut with the sophomore project, Halfway to Heaven, on March 16, 2010. [4] In February 2011, Gilbert signed with The Valory Music Co., joining the likes of Reba, Justin Moore, Raelynn, The Mavericks and Thomas Rhett.

Songwriting
In addition to his original work, Gilbert has written songs that Colt Ford and Jason Aldean have recorded. The songs "Dirt Road Anthem" (co-written and originally recorded by Colt Ford) and "My Kinda Party", were released on Aldean's 2010 album My Kinda Party. "My Kinda Party" was originally released by Gilbert on Modern Day Prodigal Son, while "Dirt Road Anthem" was later released on Halfway to Heaven. Aldean has also covered Gilbert's "The Best of Me," available on the Wal-Mart exclusive and iTunes release of his 2009 album Wide Open.[7]
