Synopsis

Michael burns his foot while grilling bacon on his George Foreman grill. While Dwight is coming to "rescue" him, he crashes his car and suffers a concussion, which makes him more likeable to his co-workers, particularly Pam. Michael is upset with the staff's lack of compassion towards his "disability". Jim and Michael take Dwight to the hospital where Michael insists that his burned foot is a more serious injury than Dwight's blunt force trauma.

Trivia

  • Michael's interview at the beginning of the episode is Jenna Fischer's favorite of the series so far.[1]
  • Several versions of the Dwight-Angela scene were filmed, including Dwight spanking her, swatting her, trying to kiss her, and picking her up by her butt. After many takes, actress Angela Kinsey ended up with a big bruise on her butt.[2] Of course, in the end, "spanking her" was used.
  • One small bit in the Billy Merchant scene was cut out. At one point in the scene, Michael asks the employees, "Do you notice anything different about Billy?" and they all stare in horror. Cut from the scene is when, after they don't react, Michael grabs one of the wheels on Billy's wheelchair and begins to roll him back and forth and asks, "Still don't notice anything different?"[2]
  • Producer Greg Daniels loves the scene when Michael tries to get Pam to put margarine on his foot. Says Daniels, "It's one thing she won't do."[3]
