Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky (エスカ&ロジーのアトリエ ~黄昏の空の錬金術士~, Esuka & Rojī no Atorie ~Tasogare no Sora no Renkinjutsushi~) is a Japanese role-playing video game developed by Gust Co. Ltd.. Given the project code "A15", it is the 15th game in the official Atelier series.[2] Hidari remains as the character designer and the game runs on the LTGL engine.[3] It was released in Japan on 27 June 2013.[3]

An anime adaptation by Studio Gokumi has been announced and is planned to be released in 2014.[4][5] This marked the first Atelier series to be adapted into anime.

Gameplay

Atelier Escha & Logy will allow players to choose between two protagonists. The main storyline will remain the same regardless of who is chosen, but certain events and ending will only be available on a particular protagonist.[6]

With the new synthesis system, the player can combine different items. The two protagonists Escha and Logy use different kinds of tools to synthesize.[7]

Plot

The game's story takes place about 4 years after the beginning of Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk in a far away place to the west of the Twilight Land where the local administration hires two new alchemists, Escha and Logy as members of their R&D division. While learning the ropes of their new occupation, Escha and Logy gather friends and companions as they unlock the secrets of the nearby ruins and help the citizens in a world that is still recovering from a catastrophic event known as "The Dusk".

Characters

Escha Malier (エスカ メーリエ, Esuka Mērie)
Voiced by: Rie Murakawa

Escha Malier is one of two protagonists in Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky. 15 years old and 158 cm (5'2).

Escha Malier is a young girl living in the small remote town Corseit, and has now become a new offical of the development team of the Corseit's branch of the Unentered Area Special Investigation Bureau. Prior to becoming an government official, she helped with alchemy work. She was officially assigned to the team at the same time as Logix "Logy" Fiscario, and the two will work together.

She is often quite quirky and cheerful, and often shows her feelings very clearly. She is full of energy and is also very curious. She is sometimes a little shy, though, and may not always think about her actions. She is very hardworking, and became a part of the development project because she wanted to help others by using her own knowledge about older alchemy. She loves sweets, especially apple tart.

Her family have since long been apple farmers and are managing the area around what appears to be the oldest tree of the apple orchard. Her mother Miria passed away when she was young, and her mother's close friend Clone has a motherly role to her.

To go to The Unexplored Ruin has been her dream since she was young. Her mother used to read her many folklores, and many of them were about The Unexplored Ruin. Therefore, she feels like the ruin is important to her.

Her "tail" is an accessory made by her mother. Escha doesn't know how it was made and how it can move.

Role in Atelier Escha & Logy The player can choose Escha as the protagonist of the game. If choosen as protagonist, Escha will be the character the player will take the role of and control through the game. The game will involve more daily-life scenarios, and is described as being targeted to fans of the previous games.

If not choosen as protagonist, Escha will be available as a party member. It will still be possible to use Escha's item synthesis, and equip her with usable items.

Escha is officially assigned to development team of the Corseit branch at the start of the game, at the same time as Logix "Logy" Ficsario. Together with Logy, the two fulfill assignments given to them. Escha also helps out with building an airship by gathering materials and synthesizing various items. Eventually after the airship has been completed, Escha and her colleagues are assigned to explore The Unexplored Ruin.

Battle Escha can use items in battle, and skills as well. She is weaker than Logy in all stats but MP, fire resistance, and water resistance, but her passive skills makes her more powerful in using items. Together with Logy, she can use "Double Draw", allowing the player to let Escha and Logy use one attack item each in the same action.

She lacks in defense, attack, and HP, and unlike the other non-alchemist playable characters, she does not possess any Finishing Stikes.

Unlike Logy, there's no real connection between (most of) her exclusive items and her.

Escha's exclusive items are:

Dream Book Slag Statue Goddess Shield Apple Story Demon Crucible Knowledge Book Skill Skill Level Learned MP Usage Skill Description Area Ether Shoot 7 15 Damages target, and delays next turn. Single target Protection 15 27 Temporaily raises all stats for 5 turns. Self Ether Spear 25 Damages target and slightly delays next turn. Line Ether Mark/ Ether Point Default N/A Deals strong physical damage and increases effectiveness of items. (Special Support) Single target Super Energetic 10 N/A Reduces WT when using items, and sightly avoids KO. Self only Ancient Alchemy 20 N/A Strengthens effectiveness of all usable items. Self only Alchemy Escha uses a cauldron for performing synthesis, which is an older way of practicing alchemy during the time Atelier Escha & Logy takes place. Prior to meeting Logy, didn't know about any other kind of alchemy other than her family's special older style alchemy and assumed that all alchemists used cauldrons. She hopes that her own alchemy will make others happy.

"Item Synthesis" is the area Escha is in charge of, making her able to synthesize many different kinds of items such as usable items, synthesis ingredients, and accessory equipment. She cannot synthesize weapon or armor equipment, as Logy can.

She began to learn alchemy when she was very young, and doesn't remember very much from when she started learning alchemy. She learnt from watching her mother rather than being taught, and has used what she learnt from watching to study on her own. Therefore, she is still similar to a beginner in the beginning of the game.

Character Events Main article and event listing: Events - Escha Escha has 6 character events in total, and they occur when Escha is the protagonist choosen.

Trivia In Dengeki Playstation (電撃PlayStation, dengeki playstation) vol. 541 a short story about how Escha became an government official is featured. It was written by the scenario writer 田中裕樹 and illustrated by Abaraheiki (肋兵器). Prior to the game's announcement, a blurred silhouette of Escha was shown in a Dengeki magazine. Escha came in fourth place in Gamer's Atelier Escha & Logy character popularity voting[3]. An illustration of Escha, together with Ion from Ciel Nosurge, was at the cover of the summer 2013 issue of the magazine Utahime(うたひめ).
