Orphaned article, fails WP:SOLDIER IMO, although a comprehensively written biography I don't think he is all that notable Gbawden (talk) 12:07, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
- Weak keep. Passes WP:SOLDIER by virtue of commanding the USS Saratoga (CV-60) super-carrier for a time, during the Cuban Missile Crisis though not technically in combat. The article is in need of cleanup, especially some sections which read like a memorial, and the sourcing could be improved. Ivanvector (talk) 14:07, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

- Keep I think this passes notability for his commands, though it does need a clean-up. What's with the blob of bold text before the lead? S.G.(GH) ping! 14:50, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
- I've removed it. The note was already included as a proper citation so there's no need for it. Usually I like to wait until an AfD runs its course before starting on cleanup but that was just too odd. Ivanvector (talk) 14:59, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

- Keep His world war 2 actions and during cuban missile crisis are notable. However article needs more clean up. Dr meetsingh Talk 14:44, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
