Kadiri is a town in the southeastern part of Ananthapur district in Andhra Pradesh, India. The famous Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple is located in this town, and large numbers of Hindu pilgrims visit the Temple throughout the year.
A famous event carried out every year is the Rathothsavam (Car Festival), on this holy day, a huge Rath (Chariot) with the Lord Lakshmi Narasimha's idol on it is pulled by hundreds of men and watched by thousands of devotees. It is believed that Kadiri got its name from Khaadri Lakshmi Narasimha.
The famous Thimmamma Marrimanu (World's Biggest Banyan Tree as per the Guinness Book of Records, 1989) is just 27 KMs away from Kadiri. Kadiri is one of the few towns in Andhra Pradesh with a large Muslim population.
