SPAN Infotech (India) Pvt. Ltd. is a Bangalore-based software services company and a provider of IT and product development services. The company was established in 1993 and has three offices spread across Bangalore and one office in Chandigarh, along with global business center offices in the US and Europe. SPAN’s Offshore Development Centre in India is certified for CMMI Level 5, PCMM Level 3, ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 27001:2005. SPAN is now a wholly owned company of EVRY ASA (www.evry.com), a Norway-based company with over 10,000 employees and over USD 2.3 billion in revenues.

History

SPAN was founded by three entrepreneurs - Pradeep Grama, Pramod Grama and Prakash Grama - 20 years ago, with just over 20 employees. Today, the company has about 1300 permanent employees and over 70 consultants, working from software development and business centers in Basavangudi and Banaskankari areas of Bangalore and about 450 employees located in Chandigarh SEZ facility.

On July 1, 2008, SPAN Infotech (India) Pvt. Ltd. was acquired by EDB Business Partner ASA, a Norwegian information technology group, which is one of the largest IT groups in Europe, operating mainly from the Scandinavian region. EDB acquired 50.1 per cent stake in SPAN Infotech (India) Pvt. Ltd. for USD 3.8 million (about Rs. 15.2 crore. EDB had over 4,600 employees and a turnover of over USD 1 billion at the time of acquiring the majority stake in SPAN.[1] EDB formally merged with ErgoGroup, another leading Nordic IT corporation headquartered in Oslo, on 14 October 2010.[2] Though the newly merged company was initially christened EDB ErgoGroup ASA, it later changed its name to EVRY on 17 March 2012. The merged IT giant now has 10,000 employees across 135 offices in 16 countries, which includes SPAN Infotech (India) Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore.[3]

  • 2014
    SPAN becomes a member of the Norwegian Business Association of India (NBAI).[4]
    As part of Dialogic’s WebRTC Engagements, SPAN, a new member of the WebRTC ecosystem partner program, offered unified communications solutions to streamline healthcare technology and improve doctor-provider-patient coordination while decreasing costs.[5]
  • 2013
    SPAN was identified as one of the most promising provider of a broad spectrum of software testing services in India.[6]
    SPAN participates in WebRTC summit at Cloud Expo in October in this year.[7]
  • 2012
    SPAN was ranked 7th among the Top 20 Best IT Employers in India for employee size less than 2000 by a leading Indian IT magazine, Dataquest, for 2012.[8]
    SPAN was a co-sponsor for ‘Top 10 QA Professionals’ award for QA professionals currently working in Bangalore. Awards were given to top 10 professionals based on their accomplishments.[9]

    SPAN was chosen as a "Diamond Category" Excellence award winner at the Bangalore IT.biz 2011, India’s premier ICT event.
    Silicon India 100, an annual listing of the top 100 technology companies, selected SPAN as one of the Top 20 IT Services Company in India.[10]
  • 2009
    In September 2009, SPAN had been ranked #14 amongst Best IT Employers in India by Dataquest.[11]
    On September 16, 2009, SPAN was ranked as a Top 20 Global R&D Service provider by Zinnov Management Consulting Pvt. Ltd.[12]
  • 2008
    In September 2008, SPAN was amongst the best 10 IT Employers in India as per Dataquest survey.[13]
    In July 2008, SPAN had made it into the Top 200 companies in India in a survey conducted by Dataquest.

Corporate Social Responsibility

SPAN has initiated educational and local welfare programs, which aligns its business values and behavior with the expectations and requirements of stakeholders.

EDUCAIT, a non-profit charitable trust founded by Naveen Bannur (Managing Trustee), closely works with the employees of SPAN to manage a wide-array of CSR programs that have been identified to help underprivileged children gain access to quality education and infrastructure in local primary schools and Government-run schools under the Private Public Partnership program.[14]
